Why I Want to be a Teacher
Throughout my educational tenure, I had many teachers that lacked passion in their profession. In their classrooms I felt as if they were not happy to be there. I grew up in a small town and went to a small elementary school where the average class size was of 18 pupils. I never received the attention I would have liked to receive from my teachers. It was not until I went to high school that I started to feel that there were teachers that really enjoyed their jobs. In my high school I had teachers that stayed after hours to help me when I did not understand. For that reason alone I admired them and realized that they were passionate and took pride in their job. I was assigned to assist a fellow student who spoke no English and saw him do very well in the classroom. Helping him and seeing him succeed is the reason why I choose to become a bilingual educator.
